On May 14, 2006 I graduated from Long Island
University with a Master's Degree in School Counseling.
I have currently entered my second year working as a School Guidance Counselor
for Webster Elementary School in the state of Florida. Every day is a learning experience; I believe that school counseling
is the toughest job you will ever love.
Not only am I a Guidance Counselor, but I am also a member of several administrative
committees, and the Leader of the "Positive Behavior Support Team."
Before entering the field of School
Guidance Counseling, I obtained a great deal of experience in the counseling field as a Respite Worker for
the Pederson-Krag Center. I worked in a therapeutic program committed to servicing Suffolk county children and
youth, ages 5 to 18, who are diagnosed with severe emotional/behavioral difficulties and who require individualized, structured
treatment with a trained professional in a family/home setting.
These youths did not require 24 hour awake
level of supervision, and were capable of establishing relationships, accepted the responsibilities of being integrated
into a new family unit, and had the potential of functioning in the community.
In order to helpe my clients accomplish
their goals, I provided the following array of flexible supportive and educational services:
- Respite care
- Individualized in-home family education
- Specialized educational respite - tutoring
- Parenting workshops
- Support groups
- Parent advocacy
- Transportation support
- Food pantry
